Zach Nolan, 25, has become a key figure for The New Saints since joining from Ballymena United in the summer. The full-back, who previously played for Bray Wanderers in the League of Ireland, was introduced to the starting XI early in the season and earned man-of-the-match recognition for his contribution to last Friday's 1-0 home win over Briton Ferry Llansawel. Speaking after the match, Nolan said: 'It's brilliant to be honest. He's shown he has faith and he's letting me play my game with the runs up and down, so I'm really happy to be here and it's a great experience to play and to grow as a player.'
Nolan is also benefiting from mentorship under captain Danny Redmond, who has been a consistent left-back for the club. 'What a player, honestly,' Nolan said of Redmond. 'He teaches me little things in training and even watching him you learn little things, so hopefully I can build on that and build my game and see where it goes from there.' The New Saints have kept a clean sheet in all three league games this season, with Nolan contributing to their 2-0 win against Llansawel last week.
The team faces Cardiff Met tonight at 7.45pm, with Nolan eager to continue their strong start. 'It was a tough game,' he said of the recent match. 'I think we could have played a bit better as a team, but overall getting the win and really roughing it out in the last 10 minutes to hold on was really important, so just buzzing that we got the three points.'
