The New Saints extended their winning run to six matches with a 2-0 victory over Airbus UK Broughton at The Hollingsworth Group Stadium. Goals from Declan Williams and Ryan Holden in the first half secured the three points that keep the champions top of the Cymru Premier.
Craig Harrison's side now have 22 points from eight games, holding a one-point advantage over Barry Town. Their recent form reads five consecutive wins, with 19 goals scored and only three conceded across the entire campaign so far.
Dominant first half
Williams opened the scoring in the 31st minute, capitalising on sustained pressure from the visitors. Holden doubled the lead just nine minutes later, finishing a well-worked move to give The New Saints a commanding advantage before the break. The team controlled the tempo throughout, limiting the newly-promoted hosts to few clear chances.
This result followed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Barry Town United, where Rhys Hughes scored a late winner for his fourth goal in as many games. That momentum was carried straight into this fixture against Airbus, a team they had beaten 7-1 in the Nathaniel MG Cup last season.
Harrison's view
Head Coach Craig Harrison was pleased with the professional performance. "The lads executed the game plan perfectly from the start," he told the club's media channel. "To come to a tough place and get the job done early shows the focus we have."
The referee for the match was Nick Pratt, assisted by Richard Dolphin and Chimezirim Iweuke. John Jones was the fourth official, with Rob Jenkins and Mark Petch overseeing VAR duties.
Looking ahead
The Saints now turn their attention to a home fixture against GAP Connah's Quay, who currently sit fifth in the table. That match at Park Hall is scheduled for Saturday, 31 October. Harrison will be hoping to maintain this flawless start as his team aims to build an even bigger lead at the top.
