Brackley Town’s manager Andy Whing has re‑entered the transfer market following a 2-0 defeat to King’s Lynn on Tuesday night. The loss highlighted the club’s lack of depth, especially after injuries to Kyle Morrison, Charlie Cooper and Will Armitage left the squad vulnerable.

The Saints have already completed 17 transfers this summer, ranging from permanent deals to long‑term and short‑term loans, but Whing says the work is not finished. “We’ve been looking for another experienced player to bring in,” he said. “We’ve tried a couple but they are unfortunately asking for way too much money.”

Whing stressed that the three big injuries were “massive for us” and that the club needs a seasoned professional who can step in when key players are unavailable. The club has been actively seeking an experienced signing for some time, but has missed out on several targets, with full‑time teams in Step 1 and Step 2 outbidding them financially.

Even National League North newcomers Harborough Town have been able to throw a bit of cash around, putting Brackley on the back foot. Whing is not optimistic that a deal will be completed in time for Saturday’s trip to Macclesfield FC, but the Saints will continue to work behind the scenes to keep conversations going.
