Burnley have signed 27‑year‑old Bosnia international centre‑back Anel Ahmedhodzic from Feyenoord for an undisclosed fee of around £6m, on a four‑year contract.

The defender, who returned to the Championship a year after leaving Sheffield United, made 36 appearances for Feyenoord across the Eredivisie and Europa League last season. He had previously attracted interest from clubs such as Aston Villa, Benfica and Sheffield United, and was also on the radar of The New Saints.

Ahmedhodzic said: “I’m really happy to be here. I’ve played at Turf Moor against Burnley before and it’s always been a really good atmosphere. I know the Championship from my time in the league, and I’m looking forward to using my experience to help the team. I can’t wait to get started.”

Burnley’s announcement came on 20 August 2026, following the club’s search for a replacement for Taylor Harwood‑Bellis after rejected bids from other Championship rivals.

The 27‑year‑old centre‑back will now wear the number 4 shirt for Burnley, as the club looks to strengthen its defence for a promotion push.
