The New Saints continued their relentless form with a 3-1 away win at Trefelin on Saturday, maintaining their four-point lead at the summit of the Cymru Premier. Goals from Ryan Hughes, Ryan Holden and Jordan Bodenham secured a fifth consecutive league victory for the leaders.
They took control early, with Hughes finding the net in the eighth minute. Holden doubled the advantage just seven minutes later, putting the visitors firmly in command. Trefelin pulled a goal back through J. Jones before the break, but Bodenham’s 65th-minute strike restored the two-goal cushion and sealed the points.
Both sides began in a 4-2-3-1 shape, but The New Saints' early pressure proved decisive. Manager Craig Harrison made several changes in the second period to see out the game, introducing the likes of Zac Nolan and Ben Clark to fresh legs.
This result keeps The New Saints in first place with 31 points from 11 games, having scored 29 goals and conceded only five.
Attention now turns to a significant home fixture against third-placed GAP Connah's Quay on October 31st, a match that will be key in the title race. The full schedule is available on our fixtures page.
